The C-Type Jaguar (or more correctly know as the XK-120C) was a development of
the Jaguar XK-120 road car, which itself was one of the fastest cars money could
buy at the end of the 1940's. The "C" in it's designation stood for
"Competition". What Jaguar did was add a new lightweight and more streamlined
body to the XK-120's chassis and uprated the then new XK 6-cylinder engine for
sports car racing. The car was very successful, it's career highlights being
Jaguar's first 2 (out of a total of 7) outright LeMans wins, in 1951 and 1953
